Welcome
Kimberly’s Cottage is…
The Marion County Children’s Advocacy Center,
The Marion County Child Protection Team
The children who visit Kimberly’s Cottage have endured a lot in their young lives. These children are dealing with the truama of physical or sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, or exposure to family violence, and are in need of a safe place where they can tell their story and begin to heal. The Marion County Children’s Advocacy Center, known as Kimberly’s Cottage, is that safe place.
Inside the doors of Kimberly’s Cottage, children are greeted by delightful murals, a toy-filled reception area and professionals trained to address the unique needs of each child. Collaborating with an investigative team, our staff provides children with critical services including forensic interviews, forensic medical exams, and individual counseling. Behind the scenes at Kimberly’s Cottage, a multidisciplinary team from law enforcement, state attorneys, child protective service and other key agencies observe the interview, share information, discuss outcomes and determine a course of action to take that is in the best interest of each child.
Child abuse is a serious problem in Marion County. Each year the reported number of children being abused continues to climb. In order to continue providing these invaluable services through this unique, child-focused approach, Kimberly’s Cottage needs the assistance and support of individuals and groups throughout our community.
Your support makes a profound difference in the lives of abused children and their families.
